The DISM command lets you fix Windows 10 by resorting the missing or corrupted system files. Here ways to use the DISM command to revive Windows image.

The Windows based pc is complex. Though it works perfectly for any vast majority of individuals a vast most of situations, you will see times when it doesn't work. There can be any number of causes of this like system crashes, incompatible software, incompatible hardware, corrupted system files, missing system files, etc. When that occurs, Windows has its own built-in tools to repair itself. However, those tools can only do so much. For example, in case of missing or corrupted system files, Windows canrrrt do much.

To cope with those kinds of situations, Windows 10 has a built-in tool called DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management). Using DISM in conjunction with the SFC tool, you are able to restore and connect missing or corrupted system files. Of course, DISM can perform a lot more . For example, developers often use DISM to organize and modify system images to match their deployment needs.

Fortunately, using DISM to fix Windows system image is fairly easy to do. All you need to do is execute a command or two and the tool will handle everything.

In this simple and straightforward Windows 10 guide, allow me to show you how to use the DISM tool to restore missing or corrupted system files to fix Windows based pc.

Use DISM to revive system image

There's two major steps to use the DISM command. First, we need to scan the machine for any problems. Second, execute the command to fix any problems found by the DISM tool. To learn how to get it done, follow the steps below.

1. Scan system with DISM command

To scan the machine for just about any corrupted or missing system files, make use of the below method.

Open the Start menu.
Search for "Command Prompt."
Right-click on Command Prompt.
Select the "Run as administrator" option.
Type the below command and press Enter.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

The entire scan will require serious amounts of complete. Should there be any missing or corrupted files or has every other issues, the scan will let you know exactly the same.

2. Run DISM /RestoreHealth to fix Windows image

If the DISM /ScanHealth command finds any missing or corrupted files or other problems, you can restore the machine image with /RestoreHealth command. Here is how.

Open the Start menu.
Search for "Command Prompt."
Right-click on Command Prompt.
Select the "Run as administrator" option.
Type the below command and press Enter.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Just like using the scan command, the restore command will require some time to complete. Once that's done, close the Command Prompt window and restart the machine.

3. (optional) Use DISM with ISO file to repair Windows

When the DISM command is unable to restore Windows image directly, you are able to mount the Windows 10 ISO and point the command to make use of the install.wim file or install.esd file. This way, Windows can easily replace the corrupted or missing system files with the ones in the ISO. Here is how it can be done.

Download Windows 10 ISO.
Double-click around the ISO to mount it in File Explorer.
Open the beginning menu.
Search for "Command Prompt."
Right-click on Command Prompt.
Select the "Run as administrator" option.
Type the below command for those who have an install.wim file and press Enter. Switch the drive letter (X) using the actual drive letter of the mounted ISO.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:X:\Sources\install.wim
If you've install.esd file, type the below command. Switch the drive letter with the actual drive letter of the mounted ISO.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:X:\ESD\Windows\sources\install.esd

That's it. Using the above command, Windows will pull the system files from the install.wim or install.esd file and restores them. Once that's it done, you are able to safely close the Command Prompt window. To make sure things are applied properly, restart the computer.

Even if Windows doesn't natively support the TGZ file, you can still open it. Follow these steps to extract or open TGZ file key in Windows 10.

If you have ever downloaded a backup file or perhaps a folder compressed on a Linux system, you might have seen its file extension is .tgz. Actually, the TGZ data format is pretty common in Linux server environments and backups. In case you don't know, TGZ is just a TAR archive file. To be a bit more specific, once a TAR archive is made, the system uses gzip software to compress the TAR archive. Along the way, it makes the TGZ file format. You can think of it like this "TGZ -> TAR -> Your files."

Though the TGZ data format is fairly popular, Windows doesn't natively support it. That's the reason the reason why you visit a blank file icon for TGZ files. For instance, Windows natively props up ZIP data format and you can open .zip files directly within the File Explorer. For that TGZ data format, that isn't possible. So, make use of third-party software like 7-Zip to open and extract a .tgz file in Windows 10. Fortunately it's pretty simple to do.

Within this fast and short Windows 10 guide, allow me to demonstrate the steps to spread out a TGZ file in Windows 10.

How to open .tgz file in Windows 10

To open a TGZ file, there exists a make use of a free and open-source software called 7-Zip. The software is compatible with nearly every file compression type on the planet. So, make use of the given connect to upload 7-Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/download.html). After that, follow the steps the following.

Find the .tgz file in Windows 10.
Right-click on the TGZ file.
Select the "Open with" option.
Select the "7-Zip" option.
Click on the "Ok" button.
TGZ file is going to be opened in the 7-Zip application.
If you see a .tar file, double-click on it to spread out it.

First, visit the folder where the .tgz file is located. With my case, the file is on the desktop. Next, right-click on the file and choose the "Open with" option.

Now, choose the "7-Zip File Manager" option. If you fail to find the option, click the "More apps" link at the bottom to grow the list. You are able to choose the option from there. After selecting, click the "Ok" button.

As soon as you do that, the TGZ file is going to be opened within the 7-Zip application. As mentioned before, .tgz is just a tar archive. So you will find the .tar file inside the TGZ file. To spread out it, simply double-click onto it.

As soon as you double-click around the tar file, 7-Zip will decompress the file and opens it. Once opened, you can just drag and drop its contents to a folder of your choice to extract them.

With this, you've successfully opened and extracted a TGZ file in Windows 10. Of course, 7-Zip isn't the only program to spread out .tgz files. You may also use alternatives like WinZip or RAR. So if 7-Zip didn't work with some reason, provide the other applications a go.

Windows 10 Mail app is a nice good general-purpose email client. Here's how you can add or delete email accounts within the Mail app on Windows 10.

Windows 10 comes with a default Email client called the Mail app. It is not only lightweight and easy to make use of but has all the basic features you will ever need. Even though there are far superior third-party email clients like Thunderbird, the default Mail app gets the job done for most users. Add to that, Microsoft is improving the Mail app with the addition of additional features with almost every major release.

One of the best reasons for the Mail App uses OAuth2 for adding and syncing email accounts. What this signifies for you is the fact that even if you are using two-factor authentication (that is recommended), you don't need to use application-specific passwords. To put it simply, OAuth2 makes the authentication process streamlined and secure.

Within this simple guide, let me show you how you can add an email account within the Mail app and how to remove an e-mail account in the Mail app on Windows 10.

1. Add Email Account in Mail App

To include an email account to the Mail app, stick to the below steps.

Open mail app by searching for it within the start menu.
Select the email service of your choice.
Stick to the authentication wizard and allow the Mail app access for your email account.

That's it. You've successfully added your first email account to the Mail app on Windows 10. In the future, when you open the Mail app, you will notice your email account around the left panel. All of the emails will be in the center panel. Whenever you select an e-mail, the e-mail body will appear in the right panel.

2. Add Multiple Email options in Mail App

For those who have multiple email accounts, you can add these towards the Mail app. The only thing is the fact that, when you're trying to incorperate your second, third, or nth email account, the process is a little different.

Search for Mail app in the start menu and open it up.
Click on the "Settings" icon at the end left.
Choose the "Manage Accounts" option.
Click on the "Add account" option.
Select the email service. In my case, I'm selecting Google when i want to add a Gmail account.
Stick to the authentication wizard and allow the Mail app access for your requirements.
If the authentication works, you will notice the "All done" message. Click on the "Done" button.

That's it. You will see the newly added email account on the left pane as well as in the Manage Accounts flyout menu. By selecting an e-mail account in the left panel, read all of the emails for the reason that specific email account.

3. Delete an Email Account from Mail App

Should you no more require an email account, you can delete it in the Mail app. Stick to the below instructions to remove an email account from Mail app.

Open the Mail app by searching for it within the start menu.
Click on the "Settings" icon appearing at the bottom left corner.
Select the "Manage Accounts" option from the flyout menu.
Click on the email account you want to delete.
Click the "Delete account" option.
Click on the "Delete" button to confirm.

If you don't want Windows 10 to automatically redirect you against Internet Explorer to Edge browser when accessing incompatible websites, you can stop it. Here's the best way to do it.

Internet Explorer now has wrinkles with no longer relevant in the modern browsing world. That's a primary reason why Microsoft created a new browser called Edge and started phasing the Ie slowly and gradually. In fact, unless you open Ie explicitly, Windows 10 no longer opens any webpage within the IE by default.

In general, an enormous majority of users no more use or need to use the web Explorer. However, you may still find Windows users who use IE every day. This might due to habit or perhaps a work requirement. Because most modern websites are incompatible with IE, it can cause issues. To further reduce this, Microsoft started automatically redirecting users from online Explorer to Edge Chromium once they visit an incompatible website or webpage. For example, if you visit youtube.com in IE, you'll be automatically redirected towards the MS Edge browser. Actually, you'll even see a popup message telling "This website works better on Microsoft Edge".

If you don't such as this behavior and wish to use Internet Explorer for reasons uknown, it can be done. All you need to do is stop Windows from redirecting Internet Explorer to Edge.

The new Edge Chromium browser has a special setting that makes Windows automatically redirect you against Internet Explorer to Edge. Disabling this setting stop the automated redirect. Here's how.

Open the Edge browser.
Type "edge://settings/defaultbrowser" within the address bar and press Enter.
Select "Never" from the "Let Internet Explorer open sites in Microsoft Edge" dropdown menu.
Settings all saved automatically.
Restart the advantage browser.

Internet Explorer uses special a helper resist redirect from IE to Edge. By disabling the third-party extensions feature, you are able to stop this behavior.

Type "inetcpl.cpl" and click "Ok."
Go towards the "Advanced" tab.
Uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option.

This should steer clear of the Internet Explorer to Edge redirect. However, one bad thing is that if you are using extensions or custom helper objects they'll cease working too. When the extensions/helper objects are a requirement for your work, stick to the first method.

You can stop Internet Explorer to Edge redirect by disabling the IEToEdge Browser Helper Object (BHO) in the registry editor. Here's how.

You can use the Windows task scheduler to automatically delete files older than numerous days. Here's how you can get it done in simple steps.

To delete personal files or files in Windows, all you need to do is select them and press the delete button in your keyboard. For special folders like the downloads folder, trash can, cache folders, temp folders, etc., Windows includes a built-in tool called Storage Sense that can automatically delete files following a certain number of days. For example, if you wish to delete files after 30 days, Two months, or 90 days, you can configure Storage Sense to do just that. The downside is that the Storage Sense tool doesn't support custom folders.

So, to automatically delete files older than X number of days, make use of the job scheduler. Because the task scheduler enables you to execute scripts in a specific time, all we have to do is produce a custom script, add it to the job scheduler and then execute it as and when needed. The good thing is, we will use a simple PowerShell script to delete files older than numerous days. The script/command itself is pretty clear to see and configure.

With little delay, let me show you the steps to make use of task scheduler to delete files over the age of numerous days in Windows 10.

Use task scheduler to delete files older than X days

Open task scheduler.
Click on "Create Basic Task."
Name the brand new task.
Click "Next".
Select a trigger.
Configure selected trigger.
Select "Start a course."
Type "powershell" in the Program/Script field.
Paste the below command within the "Add arguments" field. Replace FOLDER_PATH & NUMBER_OF_DAYS with the actual folder path and number of days($_.LastWriteTime -lt (Get-Date).AddDays(-NUMBER_OF_DAYS))the job scheduler window.

First, open the Task Scheduler in Windows. You can do that by looking it up in the Start menu or by executing the "taskschd.msc" run command.

Once the task scheduler has been opened, click on the "Create Basic Task" option around the sidebar to create a new scheduled task.

Name the new task anything you want and click on "Next." Just be sure the name is descriptive enough. For example, if you wish to delete files older than Thirty days, name the job as a result.

Now, select when you wish the job to start and click "Next." With my case, I want the task to begin every day. So, I select the "Daily" option. If you want another thing, choose accordingly.

Configure the trigger you selected and click on "Next". Depending on the trigger you chose in the earlier step, this screen might be a bit different. For instance, since I chose "Daily", I have to set the actual time, start date, and just how usually the task should recur.

Since you want to operate a PowerShell command, choose the "Start a program" option. Click "Next" to carry on.

We further need to configure the "Start a program" action. So, complete($_.LastWriteTime -lt (Get-Date).AddDays(-NUMBER_OF_DAYS))using the actual folder path in which the files you need to delete are located. Also, replace NUMBER_OF_DAYS with the actual length of time. For example, if you would like the command to delete files over the age of Thirty days then replace NUMBER_OF_DAYS with 30. This is how the modified command appears like($_.LastWriteTime -lt (Get-Date).AddDays(-30))Review the summary window and click on the "Finish" button to complete the task creation process.

Finally, we are able to test the task to ascertain if it's being employed as intended. To achieve that, discover the task in the Task Scheduler window, right-click onto it and choose the "Run" option. You will see a brief flash of the PowerShell command window and also the files ought to be deleted.

Important note: All files are deleted permanently. i.e, they aren't gone to live in the recycle bin. If the files have been in use or locked by some other program, the PowerShell command might fail to delete one or more files. It could even get angry and throw errors. So, make sure the files will not be in use once the task is executed.

Microsoft announced that it would launch two one-time purchase versions of Office this year, including Office 2021 and Office LTSC.
Office 2021 will target personal and small business users and can cost nearly as much as Office 2019.
Office LTSC is perfect for enterprise customers that don't require the cloud power of Microsoft 365 or can't make use of the more feature-rich subscription form of Office.

Microsoft 365, previously referred to as Office 365, is the productivity suite that lots of people use. It's obtainable in Home and Enterprise versions. Microsoft 365 includes access to any or all the apps you might need for work, whether it's the most recent version of the Office suite of apps, cloud storage, or Skype access. Microsoft 365 includes multi-device support, meaning you can use all the apps on all your computers, whether it's Windows or Mac or cellular devices running iOS or Android.

However, some customers might not need everything. Or they may not wish to pay a monthly fee for access whenever a one-time license purchase will do. Microsoft just announced it'll still support those customers for the near future, whether they're home or enterprise users. Microsoft Office 2021 will launch later this year with a version called Microsoft Office LTSC targeting specific companies that don't need the power of the cloud that backs the Office 365 suite.

In a blog post on Thursday, Microsoft announced that Office 2021 for consumers and small business could be released later this season. It'll be supported for five years and will cost nearly as much as Microsoft Office 2019. The brand new release will support Windows and Mac, once again, and come with 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Microsoft hasn't announced all of the Office 2021 features, saying they'll be released later down the road. But Microsoft 365 will probably continue being the primary development focus for the company. Microsoft said as much when describing Office LTSC.

LTSC, short for Long Term Servicing Channel, will target those enterprise consumers who can't get on the cloud version or don't need it:

We have built Office LTSC for any limited set of specific situations: regulated devices that cannot accept feature updates for years at any given time, process control devices on the manufacturing floor that are not attached to the internet, and specialty systems that has to stay kept in some time and require a long-term servicing channel.

Office LTSC will be 10% more costly than ever before and will get 5 years of support. However it won't get all of the features of Microsoft 365 - here's an example from the novelties included in this one-time purchase version of Office:

Without access to the cloud, Office LTSC will include only a subset of the value found in Microsoft 365 Apps, building on the features included in past releases. New Office LTSC features includes accessibility improvements, capabilities like Dynamic Arrays and XLOOKUP in Excel, dark mode support across multiple apps, and gratifaction improvements across Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The following version of Office will not ship using the Skype for Business client app, which will be available as a download within the Microsoft Download Center. It'll ship using the Microsoft Teams app, allowing people to enable and trial this experience if they so choose.

Microsoft also adds that the subscription productivity suite "will continue to get the latest innovations in modern collaboration, advanced security, and intelligent capabilities and ship them every time they are available."

Office LTSC is going to be available alongside a Windows 10 LTSC version, and each of them is going to be released in the other half of the year.

"As with previous releases, Office LTSC will still be a device-based "perpetual" license. We designed it as an area of expertise product meant for specific scenarios and will increase the price of Office Professional Plus, Office Standard, and the individual apps by as much as 10 percent at the time of general availability. And, because we are always asked at release if there will be a different one, I'm happy to confirm our commitment to another release later on," Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President for Microsoft 365, said today.

The launch is set for late 2021

However, Microsoft obviously hopes more people will give a go to the subscription-based Office, explaining that the on-premises version misses out on all of the new features which are added after the launch.

"Without access towards the cloud, Office LTSC includes only a subset from the value present in Microsoft 365 Apps, building over included in past releases. New Office LTSC features will include accessibility improvements, capabilities like Dynamic Arrays and XLOOKUP in Excel, dark mode support across multiple apps, and gratifaction improvements across Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The following form of Office will not ship with the Skype for Business client app, which will be available like a download within the Microsoft Download Center. It'll ship using the Microsoft Teams app, allowing customers to enable and trial this experience when they so choose," Spataro explained.

Office 2021 will launch later this year for both Windows and Mac.
